Mercedes Benz C class w205 do you need an E-class now? Motors Specifications. Thanks to a constructive increase in the wheelbase, the space inside the car has increased, especially in the area adjacent to the rear seat

On December 16 last year, on Monday, the updated Mercedes-Benz of the fourth generation of the C-class in the back of the W205 2015 model year was officially presented, and its world premiere took place in mid-January this year. Now the German automaker has shown only a sedan version, and then station wagon, hatchback, coupe and even convertible models should appear.

Unlike the previous generation of class "C" in the body of W204, the car of this generation has significantly increased in size, the length of the C-Class 2014 has become 4686 mm (increased by 95 mm), width is 1810 (increased by 40 mm), and the wheelbase has grown from 2760 up to 2840 mm. The trunk volume turned out to be 481 liters versus 475 liters. the previous version.

Moreover, the mass of the updated Mercedes-Benz has even slightly decreased, which is due to the fact that this model has a body made of aluminum by 50 percent. In addition, the construction began to widely use: hot forming and ultra-strong types of steel, together with the latest composite materials. All this made it possible to reduce the weight of the body by 70 kilograms, and the total weight of the car was reduced by 100 kg to 1300 kg for the basic configuration.

Note also that this car is built using a new rear-wheel drive MRA (modular platform), which was already the basis for the flagship. The old MacPherson strut front suspension has been replaced by a new independent four-wishbone with aluminum levers, while the rear transmission remains five-link but has been redesigned to substantially reduce vibration and noise.

In addition, buyers of the refreshed Mercedes with a new body will be able to choose from several variants of the Direct Control suspension. These include a sports version with a 1.5 cm reduced ground clearance, a comfortable version equipped with shock absorbers that independently adjust the stiffness, and a similar option where the driver controls the choice of modes.

We have not listed all the innovations yet. For the first time in this segment, Mercedes-Benz has made available an air suspension for the C-Class, which is capable of self-adjusting ground clearance based on the vehicle's current speed and load. There are five preset operating modes for this system: Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus, Eco and Individual. The latter mode makes it possible to set various parameters of the car at your discretion.

Of course, it was not without the installation of a large number of the latest security systems and ubiquitous electronic assistants, including adaptive cruise control, which automatically keeps the car in the right lane, a frontal collision warning system that works at speeds up to 200 km / h, automatic parking functions and circular video review, as well as much more.

Back in mid-April last year, spy photos of the updated Mercedes C-Class W205 were published on the network, which was captured without camouflage at test races in Scandinavia, and then Diariomotor also published the first photos of the model, so the automaker did not manage to keep the appearance of the novelty secret. ... The car has received a significantly redesigned design with a slightly sloping roof in the style of the CLA version, taillights slightly reminiscent of their counterparts on the Mercedes S-Class W222, and head optics, just like on the brand new E-Class 2014.

In October, the company released official snapshots of the interior of the C-Class W205, which looks a bit like its junior models. Largely thanks to the three circular air vents located in the center console and the infotainment monitor above them. But in this model, the display has become larger, it is available in versions with a diagonal of 8.4 and 7.0 inches, and the shape of the console has changed, and there is a touchpad for intuitive control of all multimedia capabilities with support for handwriting.

Specifications... The new Mercedes-Benz will receive a wide range of six- and four-cylinder petrol engines, ranging from 186 to 335 hp. pp., plus, a heavily upgraded 2.1-liter diesel engine and a base 180-horsepower engine from Renault. A little later, a hybrid version of the updated "shop" and a "charged" version from AMG (about 525 hp) will become available. The main gearbox is still a 7-speed automatic, but some future modifications will receive a new nine-speed 9G-Tronic gearbox.

The latest generation of Mercedes-Benz C-Class in the new W205 body was presented at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. The sedan has tried on a new corporate design, first tested on the flagship.

Exterior

The appearance of the new Mercedes C-class 2017-2018 resembles a smaller version of the flagship. The sedan has a modern, less angular design compared to its predecessor. Clear, flowing lines easily flow from one surface to another, forming an elegant body that loudly proclaims its premium quality.

The front end of the new C-class W205 is characterized by a large trapezoidal chrome grille with one central vertical rib and several horizontal ones.

Along the edges of the grille are aggressive "two-pupil frown" headlights, with a dividing "eyebrow" DRL strip on LEDs. Below in the center is another narrow radiator grille, most of which is covered with a license plate, and along the edges of it behind the "mustache" (the bumper relief creates such an effect) there are rather large air intakes.

The profile, due to its significantly smaller size, resembles its older brother only in its body shape, and the compactness of the new Mercedes C-Class 2017 immediately catches the eye due to the short trunk (which looks more impressive from some angles) and a relatively long hood.

The wheels look large, although the beautiful design of the discs smooths out this shortcoming. The spoiler-shaped duck tail gives the tseshka a sporty, elegant style.

The sedan feed looks harmonious. The proportions of the traditional Mercedes-style taillights are well matched to the size of the rest of the rear. They are in harmony with the shape of the boot lid, which is tapered towards the bottom, with a relief resembling a spoiler. A set of chrome strips confirms the premium status of the car.

Interior

Compared to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class in the body of the W204, the new W205 received a luxurious interior, many of which were borrowed from the S-Class. It all looks premium and rich. The manufacturer paid attention to the smallest details - all this you want to touch, stroke, press, twist and even just admire.

At the disposal of the driver is a pleasant plump leather multifunction steering wheel with three spokes and a scattering of buttons on the left and right spokes, as well as a metal decor at the bottom. The instrument cluster has changed - instead of a large central speedometer, a modern traditional scheme has come with two analog wells on the sides (speedometer and tachometer) and a digital screen in the center.

Thanks to the use of paddle shifters for shifting the transmission steps, instead of the traditional lever on the center console, almost all the space of the latter was given to the controls of the multimedia system.

She is present here in the form of an "anomalous" screen, towering over the console. This display, in conjunction with three aerospace-design air vents, creates the effect of a spacecraft control panel. All jokes aside, in fact, a very high quality and beautiful multimedia system, possibly the best on the market at the moment.

Sitting in the front in the new Mercedes C-Class 2017-2018 is comfortable and comfortable. If the driver, suddenly, has a thirst for sports driving, then the front seats will support him in this, including from the side and pretty well. Although, there are some nuances in the design of the chairs, and they may not suit everyone's taste.

But the back, despite the high status of the car and the impressive wheelbase, is not very spacious. Large passengers, most likely, will be uncomfortable there, the situation is aggravated by the hardness of the backs of the front seats, against which the knees of these "sufferers" will rest.

Specifications

The new model Mercedes C-class 2017-2018 is based on the modular MRA platform, thanks to which (as well as aluminum), the sedan has lost about 100 kg.

True, the softness of the "tseshka" movement, as for a model wearing a logo with a three-pointed star on the grille, is not ideal. Perhaps the predecessor was even better in this regard. The manufacturer characterizes this as "the driver's orientation of the model", and the rigid suspension is the result of a sporty character.

The new Mercedes C-Class W205 2017 is designed for a maximum of five people and has the following dimensions: length 4,686 mm, width - 1,810 mm, height - 1,442 mm, and wheelbase 2,840 mm. The curb weight depends on the engine and ranges from 1,395 to 1,730 kg. The luggage compartment volume is 480 liters.

The car is equipped with an independent spring suspension: double wishbone at the front and multi-link at the rear. There are disc brakes on both axles, but the front ones are ventilated. Wheels with dimensions from 205/60 R16.

The power range of the Russian version of the sedan includes three gasoline engines, two diesel and a hybrid system (except for the "charged" AMG versions).

Gasoline: 1.6 liters, 156 hp. and 250 Nm of torque; 2.0 liters 184 hp and 300 Nm; 2.0 liters 211 hp and 350 Nm. Diesel: 2.1 liter 204 hp and 500 Nm; 2.1 liters 231 hp and 500 Nm. As well as a hybrid setup, which includes a 211-horsepower gasoline engine and an 82-horsepower electric motor.

All engines are aggregated exclusively in tandem with a 7-speed automatic transmission, except for the base one - for it, in addition to the automatic, a 6-speed mechanics is available.

Price in Russia

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class W205 sedan is sold in Russia in three trim levels: Premium, Sport and OS (Special Series). The price of the Mercedes-Benz C-class 2019 in a new body varies from 2,450,000 to 6,160,000 rubles.

Restyled version of Mercedes-Benz C-Class 2018-2019 was declassified by Daimler before presentation at the Geneva Motor Show. Together with it, an updated version has been released,. Along with this, the car has grown in price compared to.

The car has changed in some aspects, today we will analyze the visual part, interior and technical characteristics.

Point changes in appearance

This is a restyling, you should not expect global changes, but the manufacturer paid attention to important parts - optics, radiator grill and bumper, which play a major role in determining the design change.

The front end has received slightly modified optics, depending on the equipment. The base is equipped with High Performance LED optics with stylish design. For 150 thousand rubles, MULTIBEAM optics are installed with an intelligent Intelligent Light System, Ultra Range high beam headlights and 84 diodes on each headlight.

The recessed radiator grille of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a dotted mesh and a large logo in the center is not always installed. Optional chrome grille with horizontal stripes and 3-spoke star on the bonnet. The first option looks much better. Different bumpers are installed, but it does not change much, maximum horizontal stripes on the air intakes will be added. A bumper with the same embossing above the air intakes, adding aggression and a lower chrome strip at the bottom.

From the side, the car stands out with swollen wheel arches, especially the front one due to the recess in the center. The central recess is created by two stamping lines, the upper one starts from the head optics, reaching the top of the rear arch. The lower one originates at the very bottom and rises slightly upward, thereby creating a stylish depression.

At the rear, the trunk lid of the Mercedes C-Class 2019-2020 forms a spoiler - duck tail. The trunk lid has received a full-width chrome insert under the company logo. Oval optics received modified thin lines of light with a lower strip of the turn signal. The bumper has acquired lines extending from the vertical gills. The plastic trim is highlighted by a chrome insert that highlights the two tailpipes.

Specifications

Type of Volume Power Torque Overclocking Maximum speed Number of cylinders
Petrol 1.6 l 150 h.p. 250 H * m 8.3 sec. 225 km / h 4
Petrol 1.5 l 184 h.p. 280 H * m 8.4 sec. 230 km / h 4
Petrol 2.0 l 249 h.p. 370 H * m 5.9 sec. 250 km / h 4

The car has lost diesel engines so far, they are available for Europe, but they stopped selling in Russia. Perhaps the reasons are low sales. Three petrol engines offered:

  1. The base unit is a 1.6-liter turbo engine that produces 150 horses at 5300 rpm and 250 H * m of torque from idle. The speed of 100 km / h is reached in 8.3 seconds, the maximum speed is 225 km / h. In the city, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class 2018-2019 engine consumes 8 liters of AI-95, on the highway - 5 liters.
  2. 1.5 liter engine M264 with a variable valve timing system and a turbine produces 184 horsepower at 5800 rpm and 280 units of torque at 3000 rpm. The unit is offered only with four-wheel drive, which is not needed at such capacities. Because of this, acceleration to hundreds does not change, and the consumption increases by at least half a liter.
  3. Third 2-liter engine in the range M264 technically differs only in volume. The output was 249 horsepower and 370 H * m of torque. The moment is available almost from idle, and for maximum power you will have to turn the engine up to 5800 rpm. A 5.9-second acceleration to hundreds already sounds nice. In the city, the engine is 9.3 liters according to the passport.

The units are complemented by a hybrid EQ-Boost system, which twists the drive wheels when accelerating.

Together with the motors, a 9-speed automatic transmission 9G-TRONIC works with adaptation to the selected driving mode. There is no selector on the tunnel, because it is carried out like a steering column lever in the style of American cars. At the base, the moment is transmitted to the rear wheels, and with all-wheel drive, the moment is distributed in a ratio of 45:55.

Diesel engines C-Class 2018-2019:

  • 1.6 liters with 122 horsepower;
  • 1.6 liters at 160 horsepower;
  • 2 liter with 194 horsepower.

The sedan is built on a modular MRA platform with two independent levers at the front and a multi-link at the rear. Conventional dampers can be replaced with adaptive Dymanic Body Controls, which are controlled by a roller in the cabin. For even more money, Adaptive Air Body Control bellows are installed at the front.

The steering is complemented by an electric booster with variable gear ratios. The brake system is disc completely, the front ones are ventilated.

Security systems

The car is crammed with cameras, various sensors for surround-view systems and a rear-view camera, but still used by various security systems.

The Mercedes C-Class controls blind spots, lane and steering. In case of danger, the car will notify you with vibration on the steering wheel, if you do not listen to it, it will turn the steering wheel itself. A system of maintaining distance DISTRONIC is installed, which does not allow approaching another car too close along the track. An automatic parking system is also being installed in various ways.

Optionally, PRE-SAFE is installed, which tightens the seat belt and moves the seat in the opposite direction from the impact. Also, the system starts the sound through the speakers, temporarily disabling the hearing, so as not to damage it by the volume of the blow.

Price and configuration

The manufacturer offered several configurations, differing in technical equipment and engine. Basic C 180 Avantgarde Edition costs 2,350,000 rubles, equipping for this money:

  • cloth interior;
  • 2-zone climate control;

Yes, the Germans make money on everything, attracting buyers with equipment and a minimum price, without notifying that the majority in the Mercedes-Benz C-Class 2018-2019 will not be in the database. All the same, this does not negate the conclusion that this is one of the best sedans in the class.

Video

The world premiere of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class of the fourth generation in the back of the W205 took place at the Detroit Auto Show in 2014. Initially, the German manufacturer showed only a sedan version, and later it was joined by a station wagon, a coupe and a convertible. At the Geneva auto show four years later, a presentation of the restyled "workshop" will take place.

Unlike its predecessor in the back of the W204, the car of the next generation has significantly increased in size - the length of the new Mercedes C-class 2018-2019 model (photo, price) has increased to 4,686 mm (+ 95), width - up to 1,810 (+ 40) , and the size of the wheelbase has grown from 2,760 to 2,840 millimeters. Trunk volume is now 481 liters versus 475 liters previously.

Configurations and prices Mercedes C-Class W205 (2020).

AT9 - automatic 9-speed, 4MATIC - four-wheel drive

At the same time, the mass of the car even slightly decreased, since its body became half aluminum, and hot-formed steels and super-strong steels found wider use in the design, plus composite materials appeared. All this made it possible to make the structure 70 kg lighter, and the total mass of the sedan decreased by 100 kg - to 1,300 kg in the basic version.

We also note that the new Mercedes C-class 2018 model is built on a rear-wheel drive modular MRA platform, which has already formed the basis of the flagship. The previous McPherson-type front suspension was replaced with an independent four-link with aluminum levers, and the rear one remained five-link, but its modernization made it possible to reduce the level of noise and vibration.

In addition, buyers can choose from several Direct Control suspension options. Among them - a sports version with a ground clearance reduced by 15 mm, a comfortable version equipped with shock absorbers that automatically adjust the stiffness, and a similar version, where the driver is in charge of the choice of modes.

But that's not all. For the first time in this segment, Mercedes-Benz has offered an air suspension for the C-Class W205, which can independently adjust the ground clearance, depending on the speed and degree of load. There are five preset driving modes: Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. In the latter, you can configure various parameters of the machine at your discretion.

Of course, it was not without many of the most modern security systems and various electronic assistants, including adaptive cruise control, which automatically keeps the car in the right lane, a frontal collision avoidance system that operates at speeds up to 200 km / h, all-round visibility functions, automatic parking, and much more. The updated version has a semi-autopilot.

Back in mid-April 2013, spy photos of the new Mercedes C-class 2018, captured during tests in Scandinavia without camouflage, appeared on the network, and later Diariomotor published the first pictures of the model, so the appearance of the company's new product could not be kept secret. The car has received a significantly redesigned design with an LA-style sloping roof, headlights like the updated E-Class W212, and taillights reminiscent of those on the S-Class W222.

In October, the manufacturer released official photos of the C-Class W205, which is similar in design to the younger models. Mainly due to the three round ventilation nozzles on the center console and the display of the infotainment system located above them. But the display itself is larger here - it is available in 7.0 and 8.4-inch versions, and the console has a different shape and sports a touchpad for intuitive media control with handwriting recognition.

The restyled sedan of the 2019 model year received a modified radiator grille, as well as retouched lighting equipment, which is already LED in the base. The bumpers were also revised - the base one has a wide central throat, and in the AMG Line, large air intakes with three horizontal strips are located on the sides. Inside, there is a new steering wheel with touch panels, a wide monitor of new multimedia, and for a surcharge, an electronic instrument panel is available on a 12.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 720 pixels and three themes to choose from: Classic, Sport and Progressive

The new 2018-2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class boasts an impressive range of four- and six-cylinder petrol engines ranging from 184 to 335 hp, as well as an upgraded 2.1-liter diesel engine and an initial 180 hp unit from Renault. Later, a hybrid modification and a "charged" version appeared. The basic gearbox remained a 7-band automatic, but some modifications acquired a 9-speed 9G-Tronic gearbox.

At first, European buyers were offered a C 180 sedan (characteristics) with the familiar 150-horsepower 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine, as well as a more powerful modification of the C 200 with a two-liter turbocharged unit with a return of 184 hp, as well as a diesel C 220 CDI, issuing 170 forces. All-wheel drive versions of the C 300 4MATIC with a 2.0-liter turbo four (235 hp) and the C 400 4MATIC with a 3.0-liter "six" (329 hp) immediately appeared in the States.

The price of the new Mercedes C-Class 2020 in Russia starts from 2,090,000 rubles for the initial version of the C 180 in the fixed configuration "Special Series" (sales started in the spring of 2014), and the modification of the C 180 Sport with the AMG Line accessory package will cost 2,410 RUB 000 For a more powerful 211-strong version of the C 250, dealers ask from 2,460,000 rubles. The updated four-doors will reach us approximately in the fall, and orders will be opened in advance.

The wide range of available options includes a head-up display, Burmester audio system, climate control with automatic adjustment of operation in accordance with GPS data, a fragrance and ionizer in the cabin, and much more. The cost of the diesel version of the sedan is 2,660,000, and the hybrid version of 350 e was estimated at 3,200,000 rubles.

On the European market on April 7, 2014, sales of the C-Klasse (W205) in the special Edition 1 version started, which could only be ordered within the first year after the start of sales of this car.

The model is based on the Avantgarde version with a large three-pointed star on the radiator grille, but specially prepared for this version are exclusive 19-inch rims painted in Himalaya gray.

Inside, the Edition 1 sports a multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel from the AMG range of accessories, two-tone leather seats, Nappa leather dashboard, velor floor mats, black fabric headlining and illuminated door sills.

On the Russian market, the car was offered in two trim levels: "Special Series" and Sport AMG Line. The manufacturer offers an impressive range of equipment, including a touchscreen display (diagonal 7 or 8.4 inches) with voice, gesture and handwriting functions, as well as a projector on the windshield of the main indications such as current speed, speed limits, prompts navigation and other messages. It is interesting to note the air conditioning system: based on navigation data, it automatically closes the air intake flap while the car drives through the tunnel. Fragrance and air ionizer are optionally available. Among the options there is also a Burmester audio system, a circular video review system, leather interior, keyless entry, a panoramic roof and more.

The base engine is a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo (C180) M 274 DE 16 with 156 hp. With it, the sedan is able to gain 100 km / h from a standstill in 8.5 seconds. On the Russian market, the line of modernized gasoline turbo fours of the M 274 series is also represented by the C 200 4MATIC (2.0 l, 184 hp) and C 250 (2.0 l, 211 hp) models, their acceleration rates are 0 -100 km / h - 7.6 and 6.6 seconds. In October 2014, Mercedes-Benz introduced the new C 63 AMG and C 63 S AMG, equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 engine of the M177 series with a capacity of 476 and 510 "horses" - respectively, they are capable of sprinting up to "hundreds" for 4.2 and 4.1 seconds. The more budgetary version of the all-wheel drive sports sedan C 43 AMG 4MATIC looks quite spirited - 4.7 seconds. The company has also prepared hybrid modifications. In the C 300 BlueTEC HYBRID, the 204 hp diesel is paired with a 27 hp electric motor. This tandem will reduce the declared fuel consumption to 3.9 liters per 100 km. The drive is traditionally rear-wheel drive. The C 350 E Plug-In Hybrid model (gasoline 211 hp turbo engine and 80 hp electric motor) is rechargeable from the household power supply, and the petrol consumption is declared at 2.4 l / 100 km. The volume of the tank is 41 or 66 liters.

The chassis of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class W205 features a new 4-link front suspension and an optimized 5-link rear arrangement. For buyers, there is a choice of suspension: in addition to the standard version, a sports version is available with a 15 mm lower ground clearance and stricter settings, as well as an Airmatic air suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers with five modes (Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual) and adaptive algorithm with automatic selection of operating modes. The flagship AMG C63 model includes AMG Ride Contol sports suspension, mechanical locking rear differential, AMG Dynamic Select. With the change of generations, the C-Class sedan has become 9.5 cm longer than its predecessor (its length is 4686 mm), and the wheelbase has increased from 2760 to 2840 mm. The width and height of the body are 1810 and 1442 mm (the previous figures were 1770 x 1447 mm). The minimum turning radius has slightly increased - from 5.4 to 5.6 m. The trunk has increased by 30 liters and now its volume is 480 liters (in the C 350 e model it is noticeably more modest - 335 liters).

The C-Class W205 has received numerous electronic driving assistance systems that make up a complex called Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive. A set of sensors allows you to detect cars in "blind spots", pedestrians, markings and road signs, giving, if necessary, a signal for emergency braking. The special Attention Assist system is able to detect driver fatigue, and the Stop & Go Pilot system will allow you to move on “autopilot” in city traffic jams at speeds up to 60 km / h. The vehicle can be equipped with dynamic headlights with LED Intelligent Light System. Nine airbags are responsible for the lives of the driver and passengers. The C-Class W205 scored very high in crash tests.

In the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class W205, a wide range of safety equipment, numerous modern technologies, spectacular design and comfort, comparable to those of a higher class, deserve attention. At the same time, the owners note some weak points of the C-Class in the 205th body: more whimsical and demanding engines for maintenance, a stiff chassis (especially on standard ranflat tires), lack of a spare wheel / stowaway, a small standard tank.
