Top 10 car companies. Major automotive alliances. Reference. Logos of domestic car brands alphabetically A-Z

From January to April 2018, global market sales totaled 30.7 million units, up from 7.44 million units in April, up 5.2% year-on-year, according to focus2move. It is assumed that by the end of 2018, 98 million cars will be sold, and 100 million are predicted for the next year.

Eight out of ten global manufacturers that are in the TOP-10 in April and for four months of 2018 show a positive trend. The most intense struggle takes place in the top three. Three groups of manufacturers, located in the first or third place, represent 21 brands and approximately one third of the total global market.

This year, the ranking is headed by the previous two Volkswagen Group, which is represented on the market by brands: Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Skoda, Seat, Bentley, Lamborghini, Bugatti. The group's sales are up 7% this year to 3.63 million units. In April, sales increased by 10.8% and amounted to 896,635 vehicles.

In second place is the Renault-Nissan alliance with 3.4 million units in 2018 (+4.4%) and 771,638 units in April (+3.3%). Toyota Motor closes the top three, which sold 3,220,780 cars (+1.9%) in four months, and 775,838 units (+3.7%) in April.

This year, Ford Motor shows a decrease in sales - 1,932,022 and 475,786 cars in 2018 and in April, respectively, which is 6% and 2.4% less than last year, as well as Honda Motor - 1,537,556 (373,274) machines and a decrease of 1.3% and 7.2%.

Earlier, the Kolesa.ru portal reported an increase in sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.

Traditionally, only closer to the middle of the year, the final summary statistics on sales among the world leaders in the auto production segment appears. Such delays are due to those who need to prepare reports, process them, sort out sold products, since many auto companies are engaged in not only sales of cars.

Up-to-date information covering the period from January to December 2018 allows us to say in 2019 with confidence who, according to the results of the reporting period, was at the top of popularity, and who failed to enter the top ten.

Surely this association would not have been in the ranking and on the 9th line, if not for the fact that the brand acquired Vauxhall and Opel. In the first half of the year after the signing of contracts, the company's revenues immediately increased, rising by 40%. We also managed to get a net profit of 18%.

Since the beginning of 2018, the French association has increased capitalization by almost 35%. The final figure was 19 billion euros. How long the success will be, and whether Opel and Vauxhall will be able to improve the position of the alliance in the market, only time will tell.

Fiat-Chrysler

The alliance of the Italian and American companies feels quite confident and remains stable. The drop in sales by 0.2% cannot be called significant. Although the expected increase did not occur. At the end of 2018, the company managed to sell 4.8 million of its vehicles.

Analysts say the main success is due to the huge popularity of the Fiat 500 model. This compact urban hatchback has not been very fond of the Russians, but in Europe and many other countries it is a real bestseller.

The latest news related to the relationship between Fiat and Hyundai look interesting. The Koreans allegedly made an offer to buy the Italian concern. Given the success of the South Korean company, there is nothing surprising in this. Now Hyundai is waiting to see how the situation will develop in Fiat. Basically, they are waiting for the stock to fall, which will allow them to make a profitable offer and still achieve their goal. The transition of Fiat under the wing of Hyundai can be an extremely interesting project. But no official information has yet been received in this regard.

Honda

Speaking about the best car manufacturing companies in the world, one cannot fail to mention Japanese. The company showed fairly stable results, but there was no increase in sales compared to the previous year. There is a slight drop of 0.6%. A total of 5.2 million vehicles were sold during the year.

Honda consistently managed to demonstrate the growth of its economic performance. Despite a slight decrease in the volume of cars sold, the company still makes a solid profit. The 7th line in the ranking is largely due to the successful sales of such models as the Accord, Civic and CR-V.

In mid-2018, an official report was presented with the company's financial performance. And Honda showed a record for revenue from sold cars. Because of this, management even changed the forecast for financial success by mid-2019. Honda's financial experts expect earnings to increase by 350 billion yen. Now it will be interesting to see how justified such optimistic forecasts.

Ford

In disputes about which company is better and whose cars are more reliable, Ford often wins. But if we sum up the results of the past year, then sales of the North American concern decreased immediately by 10.4%. As a result, 5.6 million vehicles were sold.

Back in July 2017, Ford announced that it was creating a subsidiary. Its main task is a deep market analysis and development strategy in the field of autonomous vehicles.

Management wants to increase its visibility and popularity. Some will say that Ford is already widely known around the world. But the fact of being only on the 6th line of the rating suggests otherwise. Against the backdrop of competitors, Ford begins to yield somewhat and lose its former positions.

By 2020, ForD Motors plans to create a completely new line of its vehicles for the domestic North American market, and then begin their promotion in the international arena. Ford also wants the average age of manufactured models to be reduced from almost 6 to 3.3 years. This indicates a more frequent release of new products and the next generations.

Hynudai-Kia

Top 5 among the leading automakers, whose cars are being sold more and more actively, was the South Korean alliance. If we talk about which company feels better than others in Russia, then we can certainly answer that these are Hyundai and Kia.

They did not manage to get into the top three at the end of the past year. But an increase of 1.6% in sold cars gives good prospects for next year. Already in 2019, the positions of Hyundai-Kia should change, according to experts' forecasts. And the association will enter the top three in sales. Now, reports show that the alliance sold 7.4 million of its cars in 2018.

Hyundai-Kia focused on developing countries. Their cars are in demand in China, India and Russia.

General Motors

An American auto concern that carries an impressive number of different brands under its wing. In the case of Russia, Chevrolet can certainly be considered the most popular of them.

The overall drop in sales at General Motors was 4% compared to last year. And in 2018, 8.6 million cars were sold. And if earlier the company occupied the 3rd position, then due to sales, Vauxhall and Opel had to be lowered to the 4th line.

It cannot be said that this is a serious problem. In fact, both sold brands were unprofitable. The company reduced its total sales, but net profit increased. This manufacturer is deservedly included in the rating and, by the end of 2019, it will certainly be able to return to its previously lost position. But time will tell.

Renault-Nissan

One of the most successful alliances in recent years. Renault and Nissan have developed an excellent relationship. Success is largely due to the release of a series of inexpensive and budget cars.

During the reporting period, 10.3 million vehicles were submitted. At the same time, sales growth amounted to 0.9% compared to the previous year. Not the last role in this was played by the new Renault and Sandero car, as well as the budget Duster crossover.

The purchase of a 34% stake in Mitsubishi played a significant role in the sales growth. The deal was signed in 2016. In fact, now we can talk about a triple alliance of such giants as Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi. Therefore, in the coming years, the association may push the perennial leaders off the pedestal.

Toyota

If we talk about which brand is better than all the others, but still inferior to the leader, then it will be the Japanese company Toyota.

The Japanese managed to sell 1.2% more cars than before. In total, 10.4 million vehicles were sold in 2018. And here we are not talking about some major alliances, except for the premium sub-brand Lexus.

For 3 years in a row, Toyota has confidently taken the second position in the ranking. But in no way can it surpass the current leader. Although Toyota is clearly striving for this. So far, unfortunately, it doesn't work.

Despite the loss to the leader, representatives of Toyota gave a rather interesting interview. In common with journalists and analysts, they said that Toyota is not going to deliberately increase production volumes, just to catch up with its competitor. They are interested in the quality, reliability and safety of their cars, and not at all in the number of cars sold. It is difficult to say how true these words are. Surely Toyota management does not like the fact that they are always second. Let's see how the situation will change in the coming years.

Volkswagen

The increase in sales was 2%, and the total volume of cars sold exceeded 10.8 million units. Even the largest modern automobile companies from all over the world cannot yet reach the heights where the VAG auto concern has managed to take off.

It is important to understand here that Toyota sells cars of only two brands, while Volkswagen includes such giants as Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and a number of other brands. And the difference of only 400 thousand cars sold does not look so significant. But this does not diminish the merits of Volkswagen.

After a high-profile scandal in 2015, when VAG recalled a large batch of its diesel vehicles because the company deliberately underestimated the results of emissions tests, the group had to pay a $4 billion fine. Many thought that a period of stagnation would now begin. But in the end, Volkswagen saved face, corrected its mistake and increased sales.

The rankings published in 2019 show the balance of power among the leading automakers. But here it is important to understand that the number of cars sold does not yet speak of financial success. There are a number of examples where the total number of cars sold in the world has risen markedly, but financial reports have been significantly worse than periods with lower sales volumes. Profit depends on a number of components.

It is rather difficult to predict how much the balance of power will change in 2019. But while it is expected that everyone will remain approximately in their positions. If changes occur, then none of the world leaders will be able to fall or soar by more than 1-2 lines. The greatest expectations are placed on Renault-Nissan and Hyundai-Kia.

One of the world's largest automobile companies, founded in 1908 by William Durant. The company's international headquarters is located in Detroit; GM enterprises located in almost 120 countries of the world employ 209 thousand people.

GM and its strategic partners produce cars and trucks in 35 countries around the world. Divisions of General Motors, among other things, serve and sell a group of the following brands: Baojun (Baojun), Buick (Buick), Cadillac (Cadillac), Chevrolet (Chevrolet), GMC (GMC) , Daewoo, Holden, Isuzu, Opel, Vauxhall and Wuling.

The company produces a wide range of passenger cars and commercial vehicles under the Ford (Ford), Lincoln (Lincoln), Mercury (Mercury) brands. Ford has a stake in the Japanese car manufacturer Mazda.

Ford's Russian subsidiary (ZAO Ford Motor Company) owns an automobile plant in the city of Vsevolozhsk (Leningrad Region), which assembles Ford Focus and Ford Mondeo cars.

Currently, the automaker owns such automobile brands as Maybach, Mercedes-Benz and Smart.

At the end of 2011, the net profit of the German automobile concern Daimler grew by 29%, amounting to a record 6.029 billion euros against 4.674 billion euros a year earlier.

After the Italian concern Fiat completed the acquisition of Chrysler assets on June 10, 2009, Chrysler Group LLC was formed.

In April 2011, the Italian manufacturer reached an agreement with Chrysler to increase its stake in the American company to 46% from 30%, and in July Fiat completed the purchase of a 7.5% stake in the Chrysler group from the Canadian and American governments, thus increasing its stake in the automaker to 53.5%.

In addition to the Volkswagen brand cars themselves, the group of the same name owns such car brands as Bentley (Bentley), Bugatti (Bugatti), Lamborghini (Lamborghini), Audi (Audi), Skoda (Skoda), " Seat" (Seat) and "Scania" (Scania).

In January 2009, Volkswagen AG established Volkswagen Group Rus LLC, which merged two Russian subsidiaries - Volkswagen Group Rus and Volkswagen Rus.

Since November 2007 Volkswagen Group Rus has been building cars in Kaluga, 170 km southwest of Moscow. Its design production capacity is 150,000 vehicles per year. The plant produces cars of Volkswagen, Skoda brands.

The net profit of the German automotive concern Volkswagen AG in 2011 more than doubled compared to 2010 - up to 15.4 billion euros.

On February 11, 2010, an agreement was signed on the creation of a joint venture between Sollers and Fiat for the development and production of cars on the basis of the Sollers-Naberezhnye Chelny plant.

The production of the first cars started more than 120 years ago in the 80-90s of the XIX century in France and Germany. At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, the number of countries that put the "iron horse" on stream was replenished by England, Austria-Hungary, Italy, the USA, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland and Sweden. In those days, the inventors of miracle technology were driven by the desire to stop exploiting horse labor and leave the crews in the past: to mechanize, and, therefore, increase the speed of movement of overland rail transportation, primarily of a military nature. With the development of the industry among automakers, clear leaders from all over the world with different thinking, goals, objectives and philosophies began to emerge - these are Europe, the USA and Japan.

“Europe – continuity of generations”

Europe can safely be called the birthplace of cars. The very first car - Motorwagen - was designed and built in 1885 in Germany by Karl Benz.

Women's investments It is worth noting that Karl Benz's ingenuity and ingenious mind were not enough for the car to be recognized not just as a worthwhile and useful thing, but as a truly world-wide discovery. Oddly enough, his wife, Berta Benz, played a huge role in this difficult matter. In order not to infringe on the dignity of the male part of the readers of the magazine, we can only mention in passing that the world's first car was completely created on the dowry of Madame Bertha. However, the real merit of the wife of a genius lies in her legendary 106 km rally from Mannheim to Pforzheim on August 5, 1888. It was thanks to the courage and strength of this woman that the popularization of this miracle of technical thought became possible. Plus, Berta Benz became the first woman to drive. And even that's not all. Bertha Benz, during the historic motor rally, predetermined the necessary car service: gas stations, tire fitting, repair shops and so on, everything that motorists use on the roads today. And it was Bertha Benz who came up with the idea of equipping the car with a gearbox - she didn’t really like pushing the car on the slopes, and she gave her husband the appropriate practical advice.

From the moment the Motorwagen appeared in Europe, the automotive industry began to develop actively. Brands and factories appeared throughout the old world, and Germany, England, France and Italy became leaders in this area. Each of these countries endowed and to this day endows its cars with national characteristics. German cars are a symbol of quality and reliability, Italian - speed and charisma, English - comfort and sophistication, French - originality and practicality. But the hallmark of the entire European automotive industry is the continuity of generations. Europeans are very careful about their history, culture, architecture, art and generally do not really like change. This also affected the automotive industry. The model range is replaced no more than once every 5-7 years, and the technical component - only when necessary. For example, Mercedes still produces spare parts for sl of the 60s. At the same time, the design of each brand is recognizable, and has not changed dramatically, retaining the usual recognizable features and lines. We all remember BMW grilles. But, despite such a conservative policy, car interiors still amaze with luxury and individuality: leather, expensive woods ... Close attention to detail appeared for the first time in Europe. And this is due, first of all, to the fact that Europeans make their cars not for a year or two, but for at least ten years, paying attention to the quality of every detail. This leads to the use of complex manufacturing techniques and durable expensive materials, even in such details as fasteners. European cars use anodized fasteners that do not rot or rust.

Hi-tech educational program An important feature of engineering is the maintainability of the car. Each European car is supplied with detailed technical literature on a complete repair. All this led to the fact that the inhabitants of Europe did not like and still do not like to change their cars often and prefer to take care of them carefully. The distinctive features of the advanced technical developments of European automakers are largely related to their attachment to the popular topic of fuel economy and environmental friendliness in Europe. The high cost of fuel has led Europe to the use of composite materials in the manufacture of engines that seriously lighten the car. To aluminum multi-link finely tuned suspension. A robotic gearbox, similar in design to a mechanical one, shifting gears due to an electronic clutch system. Exhaust locking system when the engine is running in low load mode. All this allows you to make the car more economical and environmentally friendly.

It's probably not a secret for anyone that a characteristic feature of a European car is a large selection of trim levels. In order to satisfy the picky European consumer and compete with cheaper and simpler foreign counterparts, European manufacturers offer several options for both additional technical equipment (air conditioning / climate control, interior trim, music) and the main one (engine range). Also, Europeans were the first to use electronic technologies in the direction of comfort. Europeans make high-tech and sophisticated cars. Most European brands have their own racing teams, which in turn also have rich traditions. Often, racing technologies are introduced into production for production cars, which, of course, complicates the car, but makes it faster, more obedient, and allows you to achieve good balanced proportions of kilograms per horsepower. True, all this affects the cost of the car, significantly increasing it. For example, carbon fiber and attention to aerodynamics, new suspension technologies - all this has come to modern cars from racing.

Now, many European car companies test their cars on race tracks before mass production to bring handling to perfection. And looking at European roads, you understand why. These are narrow and winding streets, alternating mountain serpentines and unpredictable hills. The main conclusion of many motorists and professionals is that a car in Europe has always been something more than just a piece of iron. Engineers and designers managed to give it soul and character. European cars were forced to admire them as works of art. The scarlet Ferrari will forever remain an integral part of the Riviera and Monaco, and the silver Rolls-Royce will carry royalty all their lives. These machines do not age, they remain classics and are unsurpassed.

“USA is an affordable and cheap car for every American”

If Europe is the birthplace of the first automobile, then America is the birthplace of the automotive industry. It was in the United States that Henry Ford created the first mass-produced Ford T in 1908. The Americans were able to turn the car into a business. Ford put mechanical engineering on the assembly line, which greatly simplified, reduced the cost and accelerated the assembly process. This event was a breakthrough that affected the whole world and America in particular. By definition, a car in the US should be cheap and accessible to everyone. Ford magician The first inventions of Henry Ford were unsuccessful. The Fordmobile, created in 1893, looked like a cart without a horse and caused at least bewilderment among the townsfolk. And in order to assemble his first engine, Ford had to tinker with it for several months.

Having created an ATV in 1893, Henry Ford could not find a single buyer for it - the result was not in demand, because they simply did not know anything about it! Henry had no choice but to sit in his brainchild himself and drive around all potential customers. However, for his work, he received only ridicule. But, nevertheless, he did not give up.

At the beginning of the 20th century, a new passion - auto racing began to attract more and more fans and, accordingly, rally participants. Therefore, in 1902, Henry called to a “duel” and overtook the American champion Alexander Winton in a car of his own production, and in 1903, the already hired driver Oldfield repeated the experiment, advertising the Ford “999” racing model. The victory brought Ford some fame, and most importantly, it helped win the hearts and wallets of future partners. The result of these efforts was June 16, 1903, when twelve investors, including the Dodge brothers, invested a total of $ 28,000 in the company, which was headed by Henry Ford - Ford Motor Company. Huge expanses and low cost of materials naturally provoked engineers to creativity and hypertrophy: huge engines with low efficiency (150hp per 6 liters), large-scale hydromechanical automatic transmissions, and, accordingly, the gigantic dimensions of the cars themselves. In addition, the inaccuracy of the patterns, which had large tolerances for errors, was justified by the principle: large gaps are not visible on a large car. However, to this day, many of the already legendary American cars are highly maintainable. This is due to the simplicity of designs and the strong continuity of technology. On a modern American-made car, you can still see a 35-year-old engine in a new body kit: newer attachments, consumables and electronics.

Cars made in the USA were originally produced exclusively for the local market. Since the US domestic market was already large enough at the beginning of the automotive industry, the Americans had no need to make cars for export. And if suddenly a car made in America got to another part of the world, then its maintenance was very problematic. As a rule, spare parts for American cars could only be found in the USA, and they did not differ in particular reliability. As a result, American cars entered modern history as large, comfortable, simple, and unpretentious in maintenance. And… cool! Not beautiful or bright, namely cool. With a lot of chrome parts, expressive design and a huge engine under the hood. Because of all these pluses and minuses, American cars never really became popular anywhere except in the USA.

"Japan - a car as a means of transportation" Before the Second World War, there was practically no large automobile industry in Japan, although attempts to produce their own cars were repeatedly made in the 10-20s of the twentieth century. But even if several copies were made, it still did not reach mass production.

The Japanese, the Japanese...

Almost all of Japan's modern automobile industry, based on mass production methods, was created after World War II, and in just a few years. To ensure the mass production of passenger cars, the Japanese economy, which found itself in exceptionally difficult conditions after the end of World War II, needed a boost. This was the impetus for the Korean War. Japanese companies supplied the American army with trucks and other vehicles. Although these deliveries were a small fraction of the vehicles used during the war, the position of the companies that produced them had changed greatly. Along with this, during the production and maintenance of American cars, Japanese engineers got the opportunity to study the design features of the car.

In the course of all these events, the essence of the Japanese car was formed. Transportation of goods, people, from point A to point B. A truly Japanese car is simplicity and reliability of design, ascetic interior, lack of design, economical engine, small size of the car itself, low cost. High build quality and reliability were achieved through the introduction and use of robots, the refinement of production technology. If we talk about the production of cars, then all that the Japanese needed at that time was an inexpensive, reliable car for every day - a workhorse. The geographical location and features of the national character also did their job. In the 60s, a Japanese car looked like a box on wheels: complete asceticism in the design of the body and interior, nothing superfluous, no luxury, only the bare necessities.

Design, a variety of configurations were abolished in order to reduce cost and increase production speed. The total saving of resources also affected the characteristics of the engines. Japan is the birthplace of small cars, the small size and weight of cars made it possible to use small engines with minimal fuel consumption. Japanese cars were created exclusively for the domestic market and fully satisfied the needs of the local population. Japanese manufacturers have captured almost the entire domestic market, including thanks to the government, which actively supported the development of local businesses. However, the rest of the civilized world did not understand the Japanese car until the oil crisis of 1973 happened. Gasoline prices skyrocketed, and here economical Japanese cars came in handy. Unlike the main competitors from Europe and the USA, Japanese cars turned out to be much more economical. And within a few years, Japan has become the world's leading exporter of cars. However, new markets dictated their terms. In order to remain competitive, Japan needed to change its cars. American and European consumers wanted more. So Japan began to master design, comfort and luxury.

For this, specialists from abroad were invited. Until now, the most successful models were developed by Western designers and foreign competitors were easily recognized in their appearance. Compare, for example, Mitsubishi Galant and BMW of the third series (E-36 body), Lexus LS400 and Mereedes S-class with W126 body, and the similarity of Lexus LS430 with Mereedes W140 was noticed by the entire world automotive press. By far, Japan's biggest contribution to the global auto industry is economy. Profitability in everything: from the organization of production (warehouse stocks are thought out to the smallest detail, minimal production costs, all materials are recycled, most of the work is done by robots), to the cars themselves (finishing materials, design, engine and components). Japan showed the whole world its special look at the car - a car as a means of transportation, a car for every day. Simple, grey, soulless yet reliable, economical, affordable and practical. Japan didn't make the first mass car, it made the modern mass car.

The modern automotive market offers a wide variety of different brands of cars that differ in their individual characteristics. Each brand has its owncar emblem- a certain icon that reflects the entire history of the formation of an automaker, as well as reflecting the quality and status of products. Most consumers and people who are simply interested in automotive topics have never thought about the specific number of all cars in the world. However, a short digression into the history of the automotive industry will allow you to become a real expert in this area.

What are the brands of cars?

Acura

To date, the automotive market is replete with a wide variety of car brands, which involuntarily makes you think about what kind of cars they are? Every day we see different car emblems, some of which we don't even recognize. We can say unequivocally, there are a huge number of them, listing which is not enough time. However, you should pay attention to the most famous and sought-after car brands, whose logos you are most likely familiar with:

Alfa Romeo

The legislator of the famous automobile corporation in the modern world is Nicolo Romeo, who earned his first fortune selling equipment for transporting soil. A little later, the entrepreneur changes his profession, preferring the automotive business, where he soon becomes the head of the large Alfa company. Subsequently, by combining the name of the company and his own name, a popular automobile brand arose. Seeing the emblem of the Alfa Romeo car, most likely, you clearly understand that you have a premium car in front of you. The logo of these machines was designed in 1910 by the draftsman Romano Castello. The author of the car logo was impressed by the red crosshairs of the flag of Milan, which he saw on the facade of the Visconti house. On the house was a coat of arms with a grass snake that swallows a person. The emblem itself symbolized the readiness to destroy the enemies of the Visconti family. The emblem of the car has practically not changed since its inception, however, paying tribute to fashion, small ornate details were a little abolished.

Aston Martin

The name of this brand of cars comes from the name of one of the owners of the automobile plant, Lionel Martin, who, together with a friend, built the first car in his life. "Aston" originates from the race, held in the highlands of the town of Aston Clinton, in which Martin won. Thus, by merging the two names, a sonorous brand was obtained. By the way, probably the Aston Martin logo can be safely attributed to the list of the most famous car emblems. Now we don’t even think about what the outstretched wings, which are familiar to us, on which the brand name is visible, mean. However, at the time of the creation of this car logo, aviation was rapidly developing, and the most advanced technologies were used in it. And sports-oriented Aston Martin used the manufacturing facilities of an aviation companyWhitehead Aircraft Limited. So, no matter how strange it may sound, however, the presence of wings on the car emblem is quite understandable.

Audi

The founder of the German automobile corporation is August Horch, who initially wanted to see his own products under his own name. However, he was refused. And then "Audi" was chosen - the Latin analogue of the German "Horch", which means "listen" in translation.Subsequently, the emblem of the Audi car wasan icon in the form of 4 rings was chosen, each of which symbolizes a company that is part of the German brand. Initially, emblems of each of the 4 companies were placed inside the rings of the car logo, but this logo for cars turned out to be too loaded, so over time, 4 empty rings became the emblem of the car.

bmw

The basis of the current automobile plant was an enterprise for the production of motors, located in Munich. After a certain time, this enterprise merged with an aircraft factory, after which it acquired the current name of the company. If we talk about the logos of automobile brands, then BMW also has a rather interesting history. The first emblem of a BMW car featured a propeller, but it seemed complex and small, so the logo underwent a transformation by 1920. To make the emblems of the BMW automobile brand look beautiful, the circle from the propeller was divided into 4 quarters. On the new car logo, the silver-white sectors inside the black rim began to alternate with sky-blue ones. Ferrari

The creator of the famous automotive brand under which luxury cars are produced is Enzo Ferrari, whose career as an automaker began with the creation of a team of racers. Subsequently, such a recognizable badge for cars was chosen. How did such an emblem for the car come about? At one of the races, Enzo Ferrari met Count Francesco Baraka, on the fuselage of an airplane whose prancing stallion was depicted. Francesco's mother gave Enzo a family coat of arms and recommended that a rearing horse be depicted on the emblem of the car, which, according to her, was supposed to bring good luck. As you can see, Countess Paolina Baraka did not lie. This car logo now has strong associations with luxury, and even the word Ferrari itself has become a symbol of wealth.

fiat

The Italian brand of cars was created by a group of investors, among whom the most recognizable was Giovanni Agnelli. At that time, the assembly of cars was carried out in accordance with the Renault license. Production expanded rapidly due to the lack of quotas for imported steel. Even then, the automobile corporation produced all types of cars: from small cars to buses. It is noteworthy that the company did not have an automobile logo, but instead the emblem of the car was a plate with the inscription that it was an automobile plant. However, one funny incident decided the fate of the automaker's logo. Somehow, the lights were turned off throughout the plant and the chief designer, while driving around the territory, discovered suspicious neon lighting that was reflected from the plant. Since then, Land Rover Corporation has specialized exclusively in the production of SUVs. Surprisingly, the Land Pover car logo that many dream of is inspired by the usual funny story and a can of sardines. With the future car logo, Gottlieb marked the place of a new house in the city of Deutz and signed that someday this star will show off over the roof of his car factory, symbolizing prosperity. The icon of Japanese car brands is represented by the capital letter S of the Latin alphabet, which looks like a hieroglyph. The name of the company comes from the name of the founder, Michio Suzuki. Initially, the company specialized in the production of machines for the textile industry, as well as motorcycles. A little later, the main specialization began to be in the production of cars.

One of the few automotive concerns of American origin, the main focus of which is the production of cars running on electric fuel. The capital letter "T" resembles the shape of a sword, which is the personification of swiftness and speed. The very name of the brand of cars comes from the name of the famous physicist Nikola Tesla.

Initially, the main activity of Toyota was the production of looms. Paying tribute to the past, the current owners of the automobile concern decided not to change the badge, symbolizing the thread in the eye of a needle. The icon began to have a philosophical meaning:

  • two ovals intersecting each other are the personification of the driver and the car engine;
  • a large oval, uniting two small ones, is a symbol of the promising and wide possibilities of the automobile corporation.

The icon of the "people's German car" is the capital letters "W" and "V", merged together through a monogram. During Nazi Germany, this sign symbolized the swastika. After the end of the war, the car factory was transferred to Great Britain, where the spelling of the letters was slightly changed.

The Swedish Automobile Corporation took the essential attributes of the Roman god of war Ares, a shield and a spear, as the basis for its badge. Initially, the strip stretching across the grille was intended for the badge's mounting point. However, now this strip is part of the brand.

56. Lada (AvtoVAZ)

The badge of the Russian car industry existed in Soviet times. Currently, the boat under sail is presented in a slightly different shape, in which the blue and white colors remain unchanged. The boat symbolizes the location of the Russian automobile plant, the Samara region, located on the Volga. In the old days, the transportation of various goods became possible only by means of boats crossing the Volga. The rook has the shape of the capital letter "B", which is part of the name "VAZ".

And the list of car brands in alphabetical order is completed by another Russian car manufacturer, whose car icon is directly related to the products of the car factory in Taganrog. In the early 2000s, the corporation specialized in the production of cars called Orion. After some time, the factory arrives with a specialty for assembling cars.

The most famous car brands

The automotive market is highly competitive, in which only selected automakers who have managed to establish a production and marketing system deserve the right to exist. The popularity of a particular brand of cars is determined by the number of models sold. According to this indicator, the most famous car brands are:

1.Nissan

The long history of the development of the Japanese automobile brand does not lose its relevance today. Now the popular concern has relied on innovative technologies, presenting the world with new versions of electric cars that are more environmentally friendly. One of the corporation's latest projects is the creation of a new generation of New York taxis, designed specifically for world-class racing.

2. Porsche

The German automaker does not get tired of working on the quality and reliability of its products, resulting in the working condition of about 70% of the cars of this brand. In recent years, the automobile concern has placed particular emphasis on the environmentally friendly component of cars, while maintaining their power and strength. This is confirmed by the hybrid version of the Porsche Cayenne. Now the German company is part of the Volkswagen Group.

Thanks to the stylish design and advanced technologies, the cars of the German concern are in great demand among motorists and connoisseurs of beauty. The automaker is constantly improving its production, as evidenced by:

  • new models of cars produced annually;

  • increase in sales by several tens of percent in many world markets.

4.Hyundai

It is the best South Korean automotive brand, which is characterized by the rapid development of production in the automotive industry. Recently, the concern has somewhat changed its focus, moving from practical models to more luxurious cars, which, in turn, remain affordable for the population.

For quite a long time, the legendary automobile concern is experiencing certain difficulties. However, this does not seem to affect the production of cars in any way, as exemplified by the updated Focus and Fusion models introduced in 2012. At present, these models of the American brand of cars are still sold in huge quantities around the world.

6.Volkswagen

The most "popular" car in Germany was awarded the title "Car of the Year" in 2012. Since then, the concern has not tired of breaking records in terms of the number of sales. Now the German automaker, which includes a fair number of impressive car brands, is considered the most environmentally friendly automaker in the world, while constantly looking for alternative energy sources.

7. Honda

The world-famous brand of cars from Japan is wildly popular among the world population. Record sales of Honda Accord in 2012, which was subsequently awarded the title of the best car of the year in many countries of the world, became an indicator of this. Distinctive features of all cars of this brand are reliability and safety, which are present in each model.

One of the leaders in the premium automotive sector, characterized by style and quality. The German concern was chosen as the official partner of the ongoing Olympiad in London, where it provided more than 3 thousand cars. Also, the corporation does not remain far from innovation and recently introduced the world to the “i” series cars, which are distinguished by increased power and environmental friendliness.

9. Mercedes-Benz
It is the main competitor of BMW. However, it still holds the title of trendsetter in the automotive industry, specializing in the production of powerful and safe high-end cars.

10. Toyota

The legendary car brand from Japan in 2012 became the leader in sales, presenting to the world community only two models: "Prius" and "Aqua". The hybrid engines of these machines have shown a high level of endurance and power, and the continued demand for them speaks of the viability of such installations. The development of the company is manifested in the production of stylish cars available to ordinary buyers.

The most expensive car brands

Recently, the vast majority of automotive companies in the process of manufacturing their products have begun to make a greater bias towards practicality and comfort, which directly affects the cost of cars. And which car brands are the most expensive in the world? Now let's find out:

1. Honda ($21,000)

One of the most reputable world-famous insurance companies recognized the engines of the Japanese automobile corporation as the most reliable and high-performance ones, which directly affects the cost of cars, which now exceeds $20,000 for one copy of the Japanese automobile industry.

2. Toyota ($23,000)

Another Japanese car manufacturer is not far ahead of its competitor. Especially popular among consumers are models of increased cost:

  • "Land Cruiser Prado";
  • Land Cruiser 200;
  • Highlander.

They account for about a third of all car sales of the corporation.

3. Audi ($31,000)
One of the subsidiaries of Volkswagen AG stands out for its stylish design, easy handling and increased comfort. As a result, a high pricing policy, which, however, is not an obstacle for connoisseurs and fans of the German car industry.

4. Volvo ($31.5 thousand)

The Swedish automaker is gaining momentum and actively developing its automotive industry, resulting in the development and subsequent production of hybrid models of cars from the assembly line. So far, the average cost per copy is almost $32,000.

5. Infinity ($41k)

The property of the Japanese automobile brand Nissan Motor actively develops innovative technologies in the process of producing cars that are characterized by a high degree of comfort, endurance and performance. Now one of the most expensive brands of cars costs about $41,000.

6. Lexus ($42,000)

Another Japanese car brand that is part of the Toyota Corporation. Under the Lexus brand, expensive premium cars of various types and modifications are produced, which allowed them to enter the list of the most expensive cars in the world.

7. BMW ($50,000)

The list of the most expensive cars would be incomplete without representatives of the German car industry. Status and safety cars are sold at the old cost of half a million dollars.

8. Land Rover ($60,000)

The English auto industry fully embodied its aristocracy in the models of the famous automobile concern. A striking example of this is the Range Rover Evoque, which is characterized by increased cross-country ability, comfort and reliability. According to statistics, this car is the most stolen model.

9.Mercedes-Benz ($67,000)

Another representative of the German automotive industry is the world famous corporation Mercedes-Benz, which in 2010 was recognized as the most expensive automotive brand in the world.

10. Porsche ($98 thousand)

The most profitable car manufacturer is once again a representative of the German car industry. To date, the Cayenne and Macan models are in the greatest demand.

Rare car brands

Well, now is the time to pay attention to rare brands of cars, whose exclusivity lies in their high cost and status:

Despite almost half a century of development history, the Lotus automobile corporation cannot boast of a frenzied demand for its lineup of cars, which was created on the basis of the company's past mistakes. The most recognizable Lotus models are:

  • "Elise";
  • "Exige";
  • Evora.

The presented models are characterized by swiftness and increased cross-country ability, which can only appeal to enthusiasts with clear life goals. In justification for all of the above, it is worth noting that the leading manufacturers of spare parts and components for cars are fighting for the opportunity to receive the Lotus logo on their products.

The presented car brand from England specializes in the production of rare brands of cars that are assembled by hand. More precisely, at the release of only one model, the M600. The mentioned car belongs to the category of sports cars, which is equipped with a spacious engine with two turbines. The result is 650 horses under the hood, and the 6-speed gearbox makes it easy to deal with them. It is also worth noting that for the entire mechanical part of the car, the basis is a tubular aluminum frame. In order to reduce weight, composite materials were used in the production of the car body.

Koenigsegg

This concern has Swedish roots, and the impetus for its creation was the desire of the founder to invent a unique sports car that would be used exclusively for personal purposes. And, since 1994, the world community began to create outstanding cars, distinguished by unique characteristics and design. For example, one of the latest models from the Swedish factory is capable of reaching speeds of 400 km/h in just 20 seconds.

Another brand of rare cars that is of Italian origin. The machines are distinguished by their power and speed, which are based on efficient engines from Mercedes. The range of the automobile corporation is represented by models whose power starts from 700 horses.

Wiesmann

A rare brand of German cars specializes in the production of sports models, beaten in a classic style. Cars are characterized by the absence of external aggressiveness, which is replaced by some femininity, which manifests itself in the forms of cars. However, the internal fullness of the sports car suggests otherwise:

  • performance perforated brakes;
  • cross-section double wishbone suspension system;
  • aluminum body structure.

The list of rare car brands continues with the brand from the United States, which was founded in 1999. The corporation also specializes in the production of powerful and household sports cars that can accelerate to hundreds in a couple of seconds. Like the vast majority of racing cars, the body of the SSC models is made of aluminum combined with hydrocarbon fiber.

Despite centuries of existence, the cars of the exclusive brand are still the rarest. Their distinctive features are the presence of wooden elements in the frame of the structure. Also, the uniqueness of the automobile concern lies in the production and production of cars with three wheels, which are a mixture of a motorcycle and a small car.

The history of the formation of the Dutch automobile brand begins in 1880, when the company specialized in harnessing horse-drawn carriages, as well as servicing stagecoaches. Years later, the company released its first car, followed by an order to create a model for the royal family. This is followed by a period of active participation of cars of this brand in various racing competitions. During the period of hostilities around the world, Spyker launches the production of aircraft and engines for them, and at the end of the war, the corporation is closed.

A new round in the production of the Dutch company begins in the early 2000s, when the first car model was released.

Another brand of rare cars offers models with a minimum weight of up to one ton. At the same time, cars are able to accelerate to 300 km / h and create a feeling of flight, despite the stiff suspension.

A luxury car corporation from Italy owns the most powerful car in the world, the Bugatti Veyron, which is capable of delivering a thousand horsepower. All this is created thanks to the engine, equipped with 16 cylinders and turbocharging. Due to the exorbitant cost of the model, the presented car brand is the rarest in the world.

Car brands and manufacturing countries

Some brands of cars are very recognizable and by them, in particular, by their names, it becomes possible to determine their country of origin. However, there are such car brands by which it is difficult to determine the country that produces it.

USA:

The largest American automaker is the Ford Corporation, founded by the famous engineer Henry Ford, who owns the idea of creating a conveyor production that significantly reduces the cost of assembling cars, which directly affected the availability of personal vehicles. In today's automotive market, where one car manufacturing company absorbs another, Ford remains independent and one of the largest automobile corporations in the world. The most significant acquisition of the American concern is Jaguar, a significant part of which was sold to Henry Ford.

Successful automobile production was easily established by a talented engineer from a small American town who decided to give his "brainchild" his own name. The success and popularity of the corporation was determined by the acquisition of one automobile company after another, which include:

  • American "Dodge";
  • French "Simca";
  • English «Rooters Group».

A little later, the Chrysler piggy bank was replenished with the huge American Motors enterprise, as well as the popular manufacturer of tractor equipment Lamborgini.

Throughout the existence of this automobile brand, which, by the way, has American roots, its absorption has constantly occurred. So, in 1960, the concern was bought out by Jaguar, which he later left and merged with Chrysler. Currently, the combined organization belongs to the German "Mercedes".

The well-known American concern for the production of cars was created by no less eminent racer Louis Chevrolet. Subsequently, the popularity of this brand of cars only grew, which allowed it to acquire an automobile corporation with the legendary name "General Motors". Now Checrolet is actively cooperating with the Japanese companies Toyota and Suzuki, helping these automakers to enter the American market.

Europe:

1. Germany:

One of the largest German car manufacturers supplying its products to the world market. The concern was created during the reign of Hitler with the aim of providing every German with a people's car. At that time, only one model, the Beetle, was produced from production. However, the engineers of the enterprise realized in time that in this way the development of the company becomes impossible. Then the famous production models presented by Golf and Passat were invented, thanks to which Volkswagen was able to conquer the global automotive market. At the same time, the company managed to acquire large concerns, and today it includes the following car brands:

  • seat;
  • Skoda;
  • Rolls Royce.

The presented world-class automaker began its journey with the creation of small cars and motorcycles. After a certain time, he became the owner of the English automobile concern Rover. Now the most recognizable brands of cars under the auspices of "BMW" are "MINI".

2. Italy

Here I would like to pay special attention to Fiat, an automaker known for creating small-capacity foreign cars, on which, in fact, he rose. Now the Italian concern owns a number of legendary and prestigious car brands:

  • Ferrari;
  • Alfa Romeo;
  • Maserati;
  • Lancia.

3. France

The famous French brand "Peugeot" is popular for being the owner of the equally famous "Citroёn". Since the beginning of the cooperation between the two organizations, you can see many similar elements in car models;

  • chassis designs;
  • engine;
  • external outlines.

Japan

The Land of the Rising Sun is an amazing place on Earth, where automobile production is clearly established, which is currently one of the world leaders in this field. However, not always some well-known Japanese car brands specialized in the production of automotive products. For instance:

Honda. At the dawn of its career, the company was engaged in the collection of bicycles with motors, which in those days were purchased in small quantities.

  • Toyota. It was previously known for the production of textiles.
  • Mitsubishi. Throughout the history of its existence, the corporation has managed to try itself in various areas of business, even in brewing.
  • Mazda. Prior to the production of automobiles, it specialized in the production of cork products.
  • Suzuki. Previously specialized in the production of looms.

Russian car brands

Unlike its Western, European and Asian competitors, the domestic auto industry cannot boast of record car sales, which is largely due to the inadequate quality of automotive products. However, there are Russian car brands that are legendary and important in the development of the automotive industry:

1. AvtoVAZ (LADA)

It is one of the leaders of the domestic auto industry, which throughout its formation specialized exclusively in the production of cars, first in Soviet Russia, and now in modern Russia. During the existence of the Soviet Union, AvtoVAZ supplied all of Western Europe with its cars, which were based on Italian Fiat cars. Now "AvtoVAZ" has completely updated the line of cars, continuing to work on new improved models.

2. Volga

The Russian brand of cars "Volga" is the result of the merger of the American company "Ford" and the Russian company "Gaz". When creating the mentioned brand of cars, the goal was to meet the needs of the population in luxury cars. Also, there was a great demand for the Volga from French and German colleagues. In Soviet times, this brand of car was an obligatory "attribute" of the political elite. In 2007, the production of the Volga stopped, and collectors from all over the world are now dreaming of getting one healthy model of this brand.

The Russian automobile concern "Marussia Motors" is a manufacturer of sports cars. The enterprise got its start in 2007, when the first two car models were presented to the public, which subsequently became participants and winners of many racing competitions. However, this did not save the company from bankruptcy in 2014.

4. TagAZ

The Taganrog Automobile Plant specializes in the production of all types of cars, trucks, SUVs and buses. The first models of cars of this brand of cars left the assembly line under the license of the South Korean corporation Daewoo Motor. Despite the times of crisis, TagAZ managed to survive and now produces cars that are affordable and of high quality.

Car brands by types of SUVs

All brands of jeeps

The Japanese car brand offers a compact Jimny model that is ideal for light off-road enthusiasts. The jeep is characterized by a high degree of cross-country ability, as well as the presence of all the functions necessary to overcome road obstacles.

A leading Japanese automaker is offering the "FJ Cruiser" model, which is rapidly growing in aftermarket demand. The main advantages of the Jeep are:

  • big wheels;
  • unique suspension design;
  • a wide variety of functions.

The Japanese are not going to give up their positions and are already presenting another model of jeeps, only released by another manufacturer: X-Terra by Nissan. In the process of assembling this model, all the functions of jeeps from the 90s were used and added. There is also a place to be an impressive design and high cross-country ability of the car, allowing you to overcome the most serious off-road obstacles.

All SUV brands:

The presented automobile corporation suggests paying attention to the impressive QX-56 model, which has undergone repeated changes and improvements. The result is a brutal, but at the same time pleasant appearance, and incomparable power on the road.

It is safe to say that the domestic auto industry has stepped far ahead in its development. This was confirmed by off-road vehicles from the Russian automobile concern TagAz, which are famous for driving on any off-road, but at the same time they do not differ in high endurance.

And in the production of SUVs, the Japanese automobile brand has not stood aside and is already in a hurry to introduce the “X-Trail” model. All generations of this model are distinguished by high power and decent indicators of cross-country ability and endurance.

All icons and their names

All brands of cars are distinguished by their individuality and originality, which is largely due to the peculiarities of the production of each of them. Cars are even more unique due to their badges, which have a rather interesting historical and philosophical load behind them. Quite often, the external component of a particular car is associated precisely with these icons, which were fully described above.
